I love snapdragons. They are fun flowers. When I was a little girl I would "pinch" the side of the blossom and make it "talk." Back in Minnesota I had some planted on the south side of my house. They defied sub-zero weather and piles of snow to reseed and come back each year. After we moved to Arizona, I planted a few of them around our fish pond. They drooped a bit in the heat but rallied and bloomed late into the fall. After Robert died, I moved into a mobile home and decided just to plant a few lantana as they wouldn't require any real work on my part.
Last spring I noticed a bunch of new "weeds" growing up by my back door. I thought the plant looked vaguely familiar so I let them grow to see what they'd turn into. Much to my surprise they were giant snapdragons in several pretty colors. Even though I did nothing but water them when I remembered it, they kept growing all through the summer and even stayed green in the winter.
This spring they are glorious! Many of the stalks are up to my shoulder and the colors are incredible. I call them my "God" flowers. I didn't plant them, so God must have arranged for them to grow there. Every time I go in or out of my back door, I smile. We know that God will care for us and bless us when we're talking about "important" stuff, but these flowers remind me that God cares for me in little ways too. The snapdragons remind me that God loves me. So much so, that He planted my favorite flowers where I would see them every day.
