Holy Week / Easter Schedule

Palm Sunday  is March 28th. Join us to proclaim Jesus as our conquering king!!! Join in the drama of Holy Week as the teachings of Jesus strike deeper and deeper into the pride of the religious leaders. (Now begins our quest for “elephant palm” branches. These 10’ branches grow on stout, stout, palm trunks. We need 20+ branches to decorate for Palm Sunday)

No Wednesday Evening Supper this week.

Maundy Thursday Agape Feast 6:00 pm (note the time change for those who work) is a celebration of community centered around a meal. This is the “biggest potluck of the year!” We ask that you would bring your absolutely favorite dish to share. The love you have for that food will be love shared with the gathered family. You may bring wine for dinner, and we will use some of it for communion later that evening. (No, we’ll not be mixing the varieties this year … we learned.)

Good Friday Tenebrae  - 6:30 pm   The “service of shadows”   follows the events of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion. This dramatic time of readings, hymns, and dimmed light is a powerful entry into the “three days.”

Easter Eve Service of Prayer for  Healing—6:30 pm This service of prayer for healing will come as the culmination of the three week course being led by Pastor Greg Mannel. It will be a simple service of prayer, Scripture, and meditation.

SonRise Service - 6:00 am    We are “returning” to the New Spirit campus after four years at Saguaro National Monument.   We will meet on the basketball court (or patio) to bear witness to the word of life that is the Resurrection of Jesus in the SonRise.   Bring warm clothes. blankets may also be needed.

Easter Breakfast, 8:00 – 10:30 a.m.  The Youth Group invites you to share Easter Breakfast with us. This year’s breakfast is a fund-raiser for the 2012 ELCA   National Youth Gathering in New Orleans!!! The menu for the Easter Breakfast is still being developed at this printing. Come and support our youth and share in the resurrection celebration!

Arise To Praise—9:00 a.m.   The contemporary service will be built around the Gospel proclamation of Christ’s resurrection, complete with familiar tunes, and a few new ones. We are confident this will be an amazing celebration of the faith.

Traditions—11:00 a.m.   Singing the traditional hymns of the Church, the good news of Jesus’ resurrection is shared in familiar and reassuring ways. We are confident this will be a resounding proclamation of our hope and our salvation.

Easter Monday the church office is closed as the staff recuperates from the trials of Holy Week!
