Wednesday Evening Classes After Easter

"Bad Girls of the Bible”   This ten-week study is being led by Jeanette Sather. The course looks at female characters of Scripture and their role in carrying out the redemptive work of God through ordinary folks.

“If I’m Supposed to Be So Happy, Why Do Little Things Tick Me Off?”   Pastor Alan has written a unique and very practical course to understand the problem of anger. In five sessions we will discover what anger is, and what it isn’t, as well as practical ways to dismantle the source of our anger.

“Prayer: A Dance of the Heart”   Pastor Alan will be teaching this three week course on prayer, encouraging a practical approach to one’s prayer-life and creating an intimate conversation with God.

Warning of Schedule Change!!  Due to the amount of material in all three of these courses, we will meet following supper at 6:15 pm and dismiss at 7:45 pm.

A Note from the Cook Team:  due to the loss of some of our cook team members we have recombined into one team. To lighten the work load we are planning for the Lenten Season suppers to be soups, salad, sandwiches and a simple dessert. The cook team will prepare 3 soups each Wednesday night during Lent and a fourth, the Mystery Soup, will be supplied by a member of the congregation. We are also asking the congregation members to supply the sandwiches. Contact Joyce Dow, Carol Hughes or Gerri Sjoland to let us know when you would like to bring soup and/or sandwiches.

Chili Relleno Dish
After many requests for recipes, the Cook Team has decided to run one in the newsletter every month or two. So here’s the first:

Chili Relleno Dish (serves 8-10)

2 - 4 oz. cans whole mild green chilis - seeded

½ lb. each - shredded Jack & Colby or Cheddar cheese (can also use Pepper Jack)

Mix together:     2 cups milk, 2 eggs, 1 tsp. salt,  ½ cup flour

In 1 ½ qt. casserole (8 in. x 8 in.), alternate layers, 1/3 of cheese, ½ of chilis, and ½ of milk mixture.

Repeat with remaining 1/3 of cheese, ½ of chilis, and ½ of milk mixture. Top with last 1/3 of cheese.

Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Good accompaniment: fresh salsa to put over serving portions.

Option: Pour 1 - 8 oz. can tomato sauce on last layer before topping with remaining layer of cheese.
